Half of the singles quarterfinal lineup was confirmed at the end of Day 5 of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open WTA 250, with four players securing their places in the last eight of the tournament at Stadion Sports Center.
Advancing to the singles quarterfinals were Maria Sakkari, Qinwen Zheng, Sara Bejlek, and Mai Hontama, who all recorded second-round victories to continue their campaigns in Athens.
Meanwhile, first-round doubles action came to a close, while the opening quarterfinal of the doubles draw was also completed.
The teams of Catherine Harrison / Ingrid Neel, Alina Korneeva / Polina Kudermetova, Maia Lumsden / Qianhui Tang, and Madeleine Brooks / Isabelle Haverlag all advanced to the doubles quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Xinyu Jiang / Fang-Hsien Wu became the first team to secure a place in the semifinals.
