Barbora Krejcikova secured her place in the second round of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open WTA 250, defeating Viktoriya Tomova in straight sets in her opening match.

The two-time Grand Slam champion made a strong start to her campaign at Stadium Sports Center, where the tournament runs through July 19. Seeded No. 3, the Czech produced an impressive performance to claim a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Tomova and advance to the Round of 16.

Krejcikova will next face Carole Monnet, who came from a set down to defeat Rebeka Masarova 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(10) in a thrilling three-set contest.

Their second-round match is expected to be played on Thursday, July 16, with the official match schedule to be announced on Wednesday, July 15.
