Maria Sakkari will have the chance to lift a title in front of her home fans on Sunday, as she meets Barbora Krejcikova in the championship match of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open WTA 250.
Maria Sakkari is one win away from lifting the trophy on home soil, as she prepares to face Barbora Krejcikova in the final of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open WTA 250 on Sunday, July 19, at 8:00 p.m. at Stadion Sports Center.
Sakkari's opponent was confirmed after the Czech star defeated Clara Tauson 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in the second semifinal to book her place in the title match.
Sunday's final will mark the fourth career meeting between Sakkari and Krejcikova, with the Czech holding a 3-0 head-to-head advantage. This time, however, Sakkari will have the backing of the home crowd, which has turned out in impressive numbers throughout the week at Stadium Sports Center.
The singles final is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m., following the doubles final, which starts at 5:30 p.m.
