WTA Tour
The WTA Tour is the women's professional tennis circuit. The Athens Open is one of approximately 30 WTA 250 tournaments on the 2026 calendar.

The Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open is a WTA 250 professional tennis tournament, held at the Stadion Sports Center, located at the Olympic Tennis Center facilities in Athens. The event will be played outdoors on DecoTurf hard court, across three match courts. The Center Court will have a seating capacity of more than 8,000 spectators, while the two additional competition courts will accommodate over 3,000 tennis fans combined.
The singles competition will feature a 32-player main draw, including four wild card entries, alongside a 24-player qualifying draw and 16 pairs in the doubles main draw.
The Athens tournament replaced the Jiangxi Open on the 2026 calendar and runs the week after Wimbledon (11–19 July). Qualifying matches will be played on 11 and 12 July, with main-draw competition beginning on 13 July and the singles and doubles finals on Sunday, 19 July.
For Greek tennis it is the first WTA tour-level event since the Athens Trophy (1986–1990) — a 36-year gap, now closed.

Greek WTA tennis is a thin but specific thread. From the inaugural Athens Trophy in 1986, to the women's tour's quiet exit in 1990, to the men's revival of 2025, to the 2026 return — the tournament is part of a longer arc.
